The 2016QDUgraduate studentscommencement was held in QDU Sports Centeron the afternoon of June 18th. Mr Fan Yuejin, Party Secretary, President and Chairman of Academic Degrees Evaluation Committeeconferreddiplomason thePhD students and set the tassels straight for them.Other university leaders issued diplomas for thepostgraduates and set the tassels straight for them.
This year, 1,938 full-timePhD students and postgraduatesgraduated successfully and 2,491 of them get degrees.
On behalf of Qingdao University,Fan Yuejin delivered a speech and expressed warm congratulations to thePhDstudents, postgraduates, and commendedfaculty and students. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude and sincere respect to all the supervisors and staff who have showed selfless devotion to helping students finish studies smoothly. He also extended his appreciation to the graduate students’ parents, loved ones, relatives and friends.
Fan Yuejin offered some suggestions to the students. First,he hoped that they will seek higher aspirations with the help of ideals, responsibilities and ambitions. Second, he expected all the students to get broader vision by strengthening moral cultivation and shaping characters. Third,he called for the students to take advantage of their knowledge base to become critical thinkers with dignity, confidence and determination. Fourth, he hoped that the students will be resilient, hard-working and active. Fifth, he encouraged thestudents to be more generous, reflective and observant.He alsohoped that students have warm hearts and feelings towards life.
Professor Shan Futian,the representative of supervisors, Ha Chengzhi,the representative of graduate students and Nastya form Ukraine, also delivered speeches respectively.
Sun Lu and other 101postgraduates were awarded as outstanding students at provincial level; Wang Chenzhu and other 203 postgraduates were awarded ashonor students; Yan Zhiyong and other 8 students were honored for their PhD theses; Wang Sai and other 109 students were honored for their Master’s theses.
