The 2016 Qingdao University Commencement was held at QDU Sports Center on June 17th. University leaders conferred diplomason the students in person and righted the tassels.
Mr Fan Yuejin, Party Secretary of Secretary of QDU, President and chairman of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, delivered a speech to extend congratulations to students who successfully completed their studies. He also expressed sincere gratitude to all the faculty, parents and the community who all made great efforts for the students’ development.
President Fan Yuejin put forward three expectations. First, he hopes that the graduates will keep the motherland in mind and dare to dream , integrate personal development, country’s future and people’s well-being closely, and bring value realization into the Chinese Dream in order to realize the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. He also expects the students to keep the faith and dare to shoulder their responsibilities. Heexpects that all the graduates could strive for excellence and make contribution to national development, progress and people’s well-being. Thirdly, he encourages the graduatesto work hard and be scrupulous and diligent. He also calls for the graduates to learn from practice, to enrich their minds, to make hearts pure and make life elegant.
Chief professor, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Wang Kewei, president of QDU Beijing Alumni Association, founder of new mediaZhou Zhi Ke, graduate of class of 1994(Chinese language and literature) Zhou Yong and this years’ graduate from College of Foreign Languages Chen Xinyi made speeches respectively.
With excitement and gratitude, more than 40 graduates walked onto the stage and presented bouquets to representatives of outstanding teachers, and parents for their great dedication.
The director of Medical Department and deans from 27 colleges, respectively chaired the ceremonies of their own departments and colleges.
This year, 8,301 full-time undergraduates obtained bachelor’s degrees and 502 obtained second bachelor degree; 35 overseas students obtained bachelor’s degrees; 888 undergraduates wonthe prize of outstanding graduates and 517 graduates won the title of provincial excellent graduates.
