Professor Xiusong Zhao is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Chem
istry, Distinguished Expert of the National Thousand Talent Program of China. He received his Bachelor Degree in Chemistry from Shandong University in June 1987, and PhD in Chemical Engineering in March 1999 from The University of Queensland. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Queensland in the period between March 1999 and May 2001.
Since June 2001, Professor Zhao has been working as an academic staff at both overseas and domestic universities. He has been teaching a number of important chemical engineering and materials courses, including Chemical Reaction Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Colloid and Interface Science, Applied Catalysis, and Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Professor Zhao’s research focuses on nanomaterials for energy, environment, water technology, to photonics applications. His research has generated a number of impactful and innovative results, including an edited book published by Imperial College Press, over journal 350 papers and 6 patents. His publications have been cited over 19,700 times with an h-index of 69. Professor Zhao has collected a couple of awards and prizes, such as 2nd Prize for Advancement of Science and Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Young Investigator Award of Australian Academy of Science, Best Post Award of Materials Research Society (MRS), American Carbon Society Award, Australian Research Council Future Fellow, The University of Queensland Vice-Chancellor Teaching and Research Fellow, and Taishan Scholars Distinguished Professorship of Shandong Province.
Professor Zhao is the President of Asia-Pacific Society of Energy Storage and Conversion. He also serves Scientific Reports-Nature and Journal of Porous Materials as an Editorial Board member. He has been an International Advisory Board member for Journal of Materials Chemistry for over 10 years. Being a Chair, Professor Zhao has organized 3 international conferences. As a co-chair or organizing committee member, Professor Zhao has been involved in organizing 16 international/regional conferences. Professor is the plenary speaker at 3 international conferences and keynote speaker at over 20 conferences/symposia.
